For any change in editorial and business model, you need buy-in that's both top-down (from management) and bottom-up (from the reporters in the field). Perhaps start by highlighting good examples of solutions-adjacent journalism the newsroom has already produced (especially if it got a positive response from the community!) and pitch one or two ideas that could be further approached this way. Keep an eye on SJN website and social media channels for opportunities to refer colleagues to trainings and funding/partnership opportunities.

When applying solutions journalism bottom up, we need to
- train people to use solutions journalism, and
- have editors or more experienced writers review solutions journalism articles?

Nicole,

That’s a well thought out plan of action.

There’s nothing more powerful than the proof of performance of a solutions journalism story.

I generally agree. But what are some ways to demonstrate its power to colleagues who are less familiar with solutions journalism?
