For some time now, we have been implementing solution journalism in our newsroom, listening to the community and its complaints.
I work at a local Spanish-language television channel in the United States, so our audience is very specific, which helps us to have more precise ideas of various problems that may affect them.
We ask ourselves fundamental questions in our editorial calls, is this problem affecting a significant part of our audience? What are the solutions that are being developed in this regard? Who is working on these solutions? Have they been implemented in other states?
In this way, we seek not only to focus on the complaints but also to offer resources to the community to solve the things that concern them and affect them.
We have also begun to apply strategies such as show and tell, which create memorable moments for our audience so that they remember the solutions we are presenting to them.
Something important that I learned with this course is that we must also include the limitations.
