I would start suggesting solution stories at our editorial meetings, so that the team also becomes aware of the importance of solutions journalism. As we work mainly on gender and diversity issues, I would try to seek out more positive deviants and share their stories, to get our audience more involved.
When it comes to gender and diversity issues, people tend to think that nothing changes and that journalists spend their time focusing on the problems. So, for our radio programmes, our articles, our video reports, I would also suggest breaking down the problems into small slices of solutions in order to report effectively on existing solutions.
