As a freelance journalist , i do not work with a particular newsroom but i can use the material covered in the projects am working on, thinking through my story ideas and embedding in them the aspect of solution journalism and during the brainstorm sessions on the story ideas with the editors I work with explaining why it is important
I hear you--my newsroom is me, although I'll work with the same people repeatedly. My target groups include librarians and K-12 teachers, and they are definitely interested in solutions! What they would really like to read about is more on the implementation of the solutions and revisiting the solution after some time has gone by. Both groups have to deal with constrained budgets, staffing, and materials, so I'd make sure that there is time and people who are slotted in for the "a year alter--how did this work out?"
