When building a robust solutions practise there are a few things I will consider;

1. Training and Skill Development: Invest in training and skill development programs to equip your team members with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel in solutions journalism. This may include training on data analysis, impact measurement, interviewing techniques, and storytelling approaches specific to solutions-focused reporting.

2. Story Ideation and Selection: Encourage and facilitate the generation of story ideas centered around solutions. Implement a process for evaluating and selecting stories that have the potential to create impact, inspire action, and engage readers. Foster a culture that values solutions-oriented reporting and actively seeks out such stories.

3. Implementation and Iteration: Begin implementing solutions-focused reporting projects and monitor their impact. Collect feedback from readers and the wider community to continuously improve your practice. Evaluate the effectiveness of your initiatives, identify areas for growth, and iterate your approach based on insights gained.

4. Collaboration and Engagement: Engage with your audience and community through interactive platforms, events, and partnerships. Encourage readers to contribute their own ideas and solutions, fostering a sense of collaboration and collective problem-solving.

5. Measurement and Impact Assessment: Develop methods to measure the impact of your solutions practice. Use both qualitative and quantitative metrics to assess the effectiveness of your stories, such as changes in public perception, policy outcomes, or community engagement.
